Scope
Multi-year modernization across every surface of a live SaaS platform.
VNext was a platform-wide rebuild touching the storefront engine, admin re-skin, responsive design, third-party integrations (Facebook, Amazon, Google), SSL vendor migration, image-management API, the My Account customer surface, and the Theme Engine. The Q1 2015 plan alone scoped 20+ strategic initiatives across that surface.
I owned feature scope, prioritization, and the cross-team coordination needed to actually ship without breaking the platform's daily-deploy cadence. That meant constant trade-off conversations with sales enablement, customer success, design, and engineering — and the kind of platform-stability discipline that lets you ship daily into a 10K-merchant footprint without taking the place down.
How We Worked
Sprints, daily deploy, and the tooling stack to run all of it.
Drove the agile cadence: 2-week sprints, daily standup rhythm, twice-weekly backlog grooming, daily deployment culture with rigorous change management. Stood up the tooling: Jira for delivery, Wizeline for capacity planning, UserVoice for customer feedback in the loop, StatusPage for incidents.
Briefed Gartner for the 2015 Magic Quadrant cycle. Proposed and specced new admin tools — Redactor Tool, Logo Tool, customize-menu — that became part of the merchant-facing product surface.
The Throughline
The exact muscle that runs Lvl Up engagements today.
VNext is where I learned how to take a system that's serving thousands of paying customers and modernize it without breaking it. The motion — diagnose, scope, sequence, ship — is the same motion that runs in every Lvl Up engagement. The Theme Engine specifically (give non-experts a tool that lets them do what only experts could before) is the same shape as the AI Implementation Sprint we ship today.
